"Science is not magic. We are. We are the magic, and the magic is Oz."
Glinda to Dorothy about Oz.[src]

Glinda is a cardinal witch, known as the Witch of North and Maiden of the Northern Light, Mother of the Sound and Pure. She runs a orphanage and resides in northern Oz.

Biography[]

The Beast Forever Attacks[]

Twenty years prior to Dorothy Gale's trip to Oz, Glinda saw her sister West, when she and the cardinal witches unsuccessfully attempted to defeat the Beast Forever. They were saved by The Wizard's aid.[1]

Twenty Years Later[]

Following the death of her sister East, Glinda traveled to Emerald City to reopen the witches' sacred temple, meeting West for the first time in two decades. They met before the Wizard, Glinda giving him Anna to replace the pregnant Isabel on his high council. The Wizard requested that Glinda and West reopen the Prison of the Abject, but Glinda informed him that as East's spells were her own, they could not do so. They then left to prepare for their late sister's funerary ceremony. They later entered the sacred temple, whose doors were unsealed for this specific purpose. They were interrupted by the Wizard, who let the two witches know that he would let the ceremony be opened to the public, as the people flooded the few windows around the building. Not long after, they commenced the ceremony, West successfully absorbing East's spells through her mouth. Glinda took her underneath the temple, where they sealed the spells in a jar. The following day, a blacksmith sealed the entrance to the temple as Glinda watched. Suggesting that she and the Wizard were friends, he denied this notion, wishing her safe travels back home.[1]
